A dining table made entirely of oak veneer, designed for Obumex.
Obumex makes custom interiors and furniture built on discreet luxury: refined, homely, in top-quality materials.
The brief asked for a generous, welcoming table, 260 to 320 cm long and at least 100 cm wide, with a 75 cm top and real legroom. It had to be buildable in the Obumex workshop, with a finish that resists acids and heat and is allowed to patinate.
Our answer is a single material. The whole table is oak veneer, so top, edges and legs read as one calm, sculptural object where proportion and grain do the talking.
One table, taken from research to production-ready drawings. We start with style, ergonomics and the market, then move through sketches, volume prototypes and form studies. Construction and joints are worked out in CAD and tests, and validated with a scale model.
Oak veneer brings the warmth of natural wood with a quiet, tactile surface. Paired with a finish that protects against daily use, the table is allowed to patinate and gains character over the years without losing quality. Regular check-ins with the Obumex workshop keep every choice buildable.
